Why Children Should Start Ballet at an Early Age

You might know that ballet is so much more than simply just a physical activity. But did you know that young children in particular can reap a variety of extra benefits from learning ballet.

Studies have shown that movement-based classes can support better scores in literacy and numeracy as children grow up.

Additionally, young children engaged in physical activities like ballet have been shown to demonstrate cognitive benefits such as better problem solving and improved emotional regulation.

Starting these activities at a young age can be beneficial because young children adapt and learn easier than older students. 90% of the brain’s neural pathways are laid down by the age of 5, so starting earlier in life can be helpful.

Ballet has physical health benefits as well. It helps to increase bone density and improves coordination and fine motor skills. It initiates a love of movement from an early age and can even establish lifelong relationships.
