We offer jazz, ballet, tap, hip hop, lyrical and acro classes for our 7-9yrs age group. At this age, we begin to expose students to a wider variety of styles beyond the basics. These classes focus on extending their dance skills and knowledge appropriate to their age and level.
Jazz is a fun and active style of dance, combining technique and personality. The style involves learning how to execute turns, kicks, leaps and jumps, as well as learning to dance to different rhythms.
Tap is an energetic and performative style involving learning to work with rhythm and beats in music. We follow the Glenn Wood Syllabus to provide a great foundation for tap technique for our students.
Ballet is the foundational style for all forms of dance. We use the ATOD Classical Syllabus guidelines to provide foundational technique, which focuses on teaching safe dance practices and promoting gracefulness in movement.
Hip Hop is a strong and active style of dance encompassing different influences of street dance, break dance, popping and many more different styles of Hip Hop. This fun and lively style involves confidence and power.
We also provide a Boys only class to encourage more boys to become involved in dance, as well as to promote teamwork, building confidence and having fun.
Lyrical and Contemporary styles involve technique and precision as well as allow students to express their personalities through movement. These styles aim to improve quality of movement, expression on stage, and improve turns and leaps specific to contemporary and modern styles.
Acro involves improving strength and flexibility to improve acrobatic skills such as handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, backflips, headstands, aerials and many more, with the aim that these skills will enhance dance routines. We follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus to ensure proper technique and safety of students.
Stretch and Strength aims to promote fitness and fun to improve students’ strength and stamina. It also focuses on improving flexibility and the ability to use strength and flexibility in practice.
Technique classes involve building and maintaining strength and flexibility, as well as applying these foundations to dance skills such as leaps, kicks and turns.
Performance troupes involve working together in all styles. Being a part of performance troupes involves working as a team and committing to rehearsals and performances throughout the year.
