Top Tips for Concert Prep!
Dance Factor is officially in CONCERT MODE ?
It’s time to make sure we are up to date with all the important info to prepare for CONCERT SEASON! Here are our tips to keep on track this term four:
- Put your name on ALL parts of costumes including separate costume pieces, like matching crop tops and pants, and hair accessories. You would be surprised to see how easily costume pieces become misplaced in the chaos of rehearsals!
- Pack extra stockings. During quick changes stockings can easily rip. Fishnet stockings are notorious for ripping and the holes are very noticeable onstage.
- Bobby pin hair to keep flyaway hairs in place and use plenty of hairspray. Flyaway hairs are Miss Jess’ mortal enemy! ? She has been known to walk around with a bottle of hairspray on rehearsals and concert days smoothing flyaway hairs – so make sure to use enough spray before you come!
- Ensure you have the correct shoes for your style. If you are unsure of colours or need to purchase any shoes, see us for any shoes needed as we stock shoes in all sizes.
- Take extra care of yourself or your little one at this exciting and busy time. Keep nutritious snacks on hand and make sure to get enough sleep to set yourself up for success.
- Create a checklist for all of the pieces you need for each costume and double check you have everything. Often during rehearsal items get misplaced and may need to be found or replaced before the show. Doing this will also ensure that all of your hairpieces and items that are needed for routines are all organised and ready for any quick changes you might need to do.
- Use the DFJW concert handbook like a survival guide! This will have ALL the necessary details including rehearsal times, locations and uniform requirements. The READY SET DANCE concert handbook has already been released and the Junior and Senior Concert Handbooks will be released very soon. In the meantime, ALL 2022 Concert and Rehearsal dates will have been emailed to all DFJW students.
For further detailed information about specific rehearsal times and dates, there will be a Concert Handbook. Use this as your go-to for information as it will have all the important information you need as a parent or student.
