How to have the BEST first dance class

New to dance?

Whether you’re nervous, excited, or terrified for your first dance class, we have some great tips to make the most of it.

Tip #1: Remember it’s okay to be confused. It’s normal not to “get” every single dance step on your first try. Learning dance technique takes months to years to develop.

Tip #2: Dress for the part. This doesn’t mean you need expensive dancewear – ensure you are in breathable clothes which allow your teacher to see your lines as you dance.

Tip #3: Fuel up beforehand. Eat healthy carbohydrate sources like fruit, vegetables, or crackers to get you energised and drink lots of water.

Dance Factor is a Wollongong-based dance studio, offering classes in all styles for all ages and abilities.
