How dancers nail their quick changes!

When dancers (or any stage performers) have back to back routines they are forced to become masters of quick changes!

Whether it’s shoe changes, changing hair pieces, stockings, or costumes dancers are often expected to transform themselves sometimes in under two minutes, or the length of a dance routine – otherwise they won’t make it onstage!

If you or your child will have quick changes at our concert this year here are some tips to make the quick change run smoothly.

  1. Don’t stress about quick changes. We have plenty of backstage helpers who are well prepared to help the students.
  2. Mentally prepare yourself or your dancer. Sit down with the running order of the show and highlight your routines. Get to know the times where you can take a break and where you need to move fast.
  3. Lay it out. Before you go onstage lay out your next costume including all necessary stockings, accessories, and hairpieces. That way when you come running into the changeroom it’s all ready to go.
