How Dance Lessons Enhance Creativity

Dance has been shown to benefit children in their early development by sharpening creative skills, which can enhance their cognitive development.
Key creative skills that dance can improve include:

  • Sensory awareness. This is developed through hearing music, touching props and feeling their body moving in space.
  • Social skills. Being a member of a dance class involves working with others whether it be through partner work, group activities or making friends at drink break.

  • Language. Dance involves interpreting instructions from our teachers and friends, increasing the vocabulary of young kids.
  • Spatial awareness. Learning where our body is in space is a great benefit of early movement in children. This helps with improving our creativity through being able to better express ourselves through body language.

Creativity is a skill that can be nurtured in children to benefit them as they grow up. There are so many ways that dance is an ideal activity to do this for your children.
