Easter Holidays Photo Competition – 4 Tips for Taking Dance Photos

Do you like taking dance pics for your Instagram?

During the April school holidays Dance Factor is hosting a PHOTO competition! #DFJWeaster

We want to see how creative you can be with your Instagram snaps!

DON’T FORGET to use the hashtag #DFJWeaster and tag @dancefactor in your Instagram photos and/or stories! Stay tuned, we will be re-posting the most impressive picture on our Instagram story ?

Here are our 4 tips for dance photography:

  1. Showcase your strengths. You don’t have to nail a difficult acrobatic trick if it isn’t your strength. Sometimes even the simplest movements can look the most visually appealing in photos.
  2. Don’t forget about lighting! Try to choose a time of day where the sun is able to give you natural lighting. Choose an area where the light isn’t direct (this can wash your natural colour out) but is still light enough to show small details in the picture.
  3. Think about location. A great pic is not just about what pose you are doing in your photos but also about the way it matches the landscape around you.
  4. Got lots of shots – don’t forget to experiment. Make sure to include all angles and try different poses in different places. If you are going for a walk, take a pic! If you see a cool wall around town, take a pic!
