5 Fun Ways to Practice Dance at Home

We’ve all heard our dance teacher say MAKE SURE TO PRACTICE AT HOME!

But sometimes, that doesn’t quite happen…

But – there are ways to make practising at home easier – and even fun!

  • Schedule practice time at the start of the week. Say, at the beginning of your week, write out a list of the days of the week and schedule in the time that works best for you! For example, this could be after school, before school, or during lunch. Don’t go overboard practising every single day but keep to a sustainable routine. Eventually it will feel second nature.
  • Try out different types of dance you are not used to. Get exploring on Instagram, Youtube or TV because there are thousands of videos out there that can teach you new tricks and new movements. Exposing yourself to new movement forms can inspire you and help you grow.
  • Try choreographing your own dances. (Of course, only once you are already familiar with all the class work and choreography you already have.) This is a fun way to practise the skills you have been learning in class.

Plus, practising your movements and routines at home is highly beneficial to improving technique, muscle memory of choreography and overall dance skills.
